Plume in brief

What is Plume?

Plume (plumeai.fr) is an online service that fills in your PDF and cerfa forms, even scanned or photographed ones. You upload the document: Plume finds the areas to fill in, even when the PDF has no fields, then Pluma, its AI assistant, asks you the questions that matter, reads the documents you give it and writes each answer in its place. You check it, then download the completed PDF. The whole process, on an example: the demonstration.

Who is Plume for?

Anyone aged 18 or over with a form to fill in, for themselves or for a relative: a benefit claim, a vehicle registration, a disability file (MDPH), a tax return. And professionals who fill in other people's files — public letter writers, social workers, town hall secretaries, legal guardians, accountants, estate agents, garages — with one profile per person they help: see the pages by profession. Teams and local authorities have the offer for organisations.

Is Plume an official website?

No. Plume is a private service, independent of the French administration. Official forms remain free on the website of the body that publishes them — service-public.fr for cerfa forms. Plume helps you find them, understand them and fill them in.

Does Plume fill in cerfa forms?

Yes. Its library holds more than 2,000 official forms — cerfa forms, but also forms from the tax office, customs or the courts — sorted by procedure. Each one has its own page: what it is for, who fills it in and, most of the time, the documents to gather and the mistakes that get a file rejected. Search for yours by name or number in the library; a form that is not there can be uploaded as it is. To find out what a cerfa form is, see its definition in the glossary.

Who is behind Plume?

Plume is designed and published by its founder, Mohamed Lamine Hamoudi, a sole trader registered in France, with no outside funding; his registration and address are in the legal notice. The service is hosted in France. The library's form pages are written by AI models and then checked according to a published method, and each one links to the official document it is based on.

Do I need to install any software?

No. Plume works in the browser, on a computer or a phone, and can be installed as an app from the browser. On a computer, a QR code also lets you photograph documents with your phone: they arrive straight in your selection.

Your documents: PDFs, scans and photos

Which file formats are supported?

Plume accepts standard PDFs (forms, invoices, contracts), scanned documents and photos of forms taken with a phone, as a PDF or as an image (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, HEIC). For a photo, frame the whole page, lying flat and well lit. The maximum size is 50 MB per file.

Does Plume work with a scan or a photo of a form?

Yes. Plume finds the areas to fill in by their shape — lines, boxes, tick boxes — even on a scan, a flattened PDF or a photo of a paper page, when the document has no fields: according to our study, that is the case for over half the official PDFs in the catalogue. For a photo, frame the whole page, lying flat and well lit: a blurred, skewed or shadowed page can make boxes go missing. Always check the result before exporting it.

How does field extraction work?

Plume first finds, by their shape, the areas where you write — lines, boxes, tick boxes — even on a scan or photo without fields. An AI analysis then reads the pages and labels to understand what each area expects: to do so, it sends the relevant form content to the declared AI provider, including with “Find the fields”. Explicit permission is requested before the first transfer. Fields that a PDF already has are read directly, without AI. Filling remains a separate action.

What is “Find the fields” for?

It finds the areas to fill in a document without starting the questions or writing anything in it. If you change your mind, ask Pluma to fill it in: it runs the analysis again, asks its questions and fills the form.

Can I fill several PDFs in one conversation?

Yes. Drop them together or add some along the way, including a form Pluma fetches from the internet. They appear in the document strip, Pluma sees them all, and you can ask it to write the same information into each of them.

Can I send a document by email?

Yes. Each profile has its own import address, shown in the editor. A document sent to that address lands in that profile. The message passes through a service mailbox and is deleted from it once the document has been ingested.

Filling in with Pluma

Can Plume read my supporting documents to fill in the form?

Yes, if you allow it. Upload an identity document, bank details or a tax notice with the form: Pluma reads the name, address or number it needs from them and only asks you for what it could not find. These images are read on our servers, and the resulting text is added to the AI analysis; unless you change the setting, imported supporting documents are deleted after 30 days at most. Plume issues no supporting documents itself: they come from the bodies that provide them. To collect someone else's documents, send them an upload link: they do not need an account.

Can I fill in the same form for several people?

Yes. When uploading, choose “For several people” and say who each document is for: each person gets their own copy, filled in with their details, and the export keeps each PDF linked to its person. The form is analysed only once: each extra copy counts 0.4 page per page. A person can also complete their part themselves through a link, without creating an account.

What does Pluma remember between conversations?

Nothing while memory is off. When on, at account level and then per profile, it keeps what will help with the next documents: an address, a number, a way of doing things. You see what it proposes to keep before it is stored, and you can erase everything from the settings.

Which languages does Pluma answer in?

In the language of your message. The site is translated into seven languages — French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian — and the explanations of the fields follow yours. The form itself stays in French: it is the official document that gets filled in. A few service messages may still appear in French.

Can I stop an analysis in progress?

Yes, from the conversation: the Stop button asks whether you stop this document only or all those in progress. The document stays imported and the conversation stays open. You can run the analysis again later, with the button or by asking Pluma.

After filling in: export, signature, sending

In which formats can I get the completed document?

As a flat PDF, fixed and ready to print or send, or as an editable PDF that keeps its fields so it can be touched up elsewhere. The values entered can also be exported as a checking table, in CSV or as an Excel workbook, and several copies can be downloaded together in a ZIP archive. All your account data can be downloaded as a portability archive from your settings. Bespoke integrations are scoped with the Enterprise plan.

Can I sign the document with Plume?

Yes, in two ways. You can draw or import your signature and place it in the box provided. You can also sign electronically: Plume checks that it is really you with a code sent to your email address, adds a signature certificate page and keeps the fingerprint of the signed PDF, which anyone can check on the verification page. This is a simple electronic signature within the meaning of the European eIDAS regulation: it does not replace a qualified signature when a procedure requires one. To have someone else sign, send them a link: they sign without creating an account.

Does Plume send the file to the administration?

No, never on its own. Plume fills in the PDF; you send it yourself, through the channel the body indicates: online service, post or counter. If the body accepts email, the editor can prepare the message with the document attached: nothing leaves until you have reread and sent it.

Does Plume check that my answers are correct?

Only in part. Pluma fills in from what you tell it and what it reads in your documents, and each proposed value points to its source when it has one. But AI can make mistakes: check every page before exporting, because you remain responsible for what you send. Plume is an assistance tool, not legal advice: to know what to declare, ask the body concerned or a professional. The library's form pages often point out the mistakes that get a file rejected.

Correcting a PDF with the editor

Can I correct the text of a PDF, a scan or a photo?

Yes, in Plume's editor, with no outside AI unless you write to Pluma: choose “Edit only” when you import the file, click in a word to delete or retype it, then export the corrected PDF. A scan or a photo is first read by PlumeAI OCR, in a few minutes per page. The letters you type take the PDF's font, or are copied from the scanned page, when they are found there; otherwise they are written in a similar font. See Edit a PDF and Edit a scanned PDF or a photo.

Can I make a scanned PDF or a photo searchable and copy its text?

Yes. In the editor, PlumeAI OCR reads each scanned or photographed page, in a few minutes per page; on export, each page keeps its image and receives the text it read underneath, invisible: your PDF reader finds the words, and you can copy them. A scan that already has its own text layer keeps it. If a page could not be read, the PDF is exported without hidden text: search it for a word to check. See Online PDF OCR.

Are there documents the editor will not change?

Yes, two: a PDF protected by a password you do not have — with its password, the editor opens it and exports it unprotected — and a document of more than 60 pages. On an official supporting document it recognises — identity document, tax notice, bank statement, payslip, URSSAF declaration — Pluma, the assistant, does not rewrite the printed text: it can clean the page, redact part of it or fill in its blank areas. Whatever you change on it yourself is your sole responsibility. And changing a document drawn up by someone else — an administration, an employer, a bank — to deceive is forgery, punished by article 441-1 of the French Criminal Code.

Security and personal data

Are my documents safe?

Yes. Your documents are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 or 1.3) and at rest, with a key specific to your space, itself encrypted by a separate master key. They are never used to train a model, and you can delete them at any time.

Where is my data hosted, and where does the AI analysis take place?

Your documents and data are stored in France, with OVHcloud. The AI analysis, however, takes place in the United States: the provider, OpenAI, receives the pages and context needed for analysis and filling, under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses; it may keep them for up to thirty days to detect abuse, then deletes them, and does not use them to train its models. Your permission is requested before the first transfer, and a PDF that already has its fields can be filled in by hand, without any AI analysis. Full details are in our privacy policy.

How does Plume respect the GDPR?

You stay in control of your data: you choose how long it is kept (30, 90 or 365 days, or without limit), you download all of it as a ZIP archive, you correct your profiles, and you erase a document or the whole account from your settings. AI analysis only happens with your permission, which you can withdraw. For any request, write to contact@plumeai.fr: you get an answer within one month, and you can complain to the CNIL, the French data protection authority. Organisations will find the data processing agreement (Article 28 of the GDPR) on the Data processing page.

What happens to my documents?

They stay in your space, encrypted, for as long as you chose in your retention settings: 30, 90 or 365 days, or without limit. If you make no choice, imported supporting documents go after 30 days at most, and completed forms and conversations after 90 days. A deleted document stays in the bin for 30 days, from where you can restore it, unless you erase it straight away. You can also export your data or ask for the account to be erased. Support has no tool to view your documents.

Prices and pages

Is Plume free, and how much does it cost?

Yes, to get started: the free plan gives you 5 pages a month, AI filling included, with no credit card and no time limit — enough for one or two forms of usual length. You can even try it without creating an account, on 2 pages. A PDF that already has its fields can also be filled in by hand, without using any page. The editor and the PDF tools export 2 documents a day for free, whatever their length; the 7-day Pass lifts this limit for a week. To fill more than your free pages, buy pages as you go, with no subscription and no expiry date — they are for AI filling, not for exports — or take a monthly subscription with no commitment, which also lifts the export limit; associations get a discount on the subscription. Prices are on the pricing page.

What counts as a page?

It is the unit that measures what you have processed. Each plan's volume is expressed in pages per month: a processing budget, converted into pages of ordinary complexity. Each page analysed counts as one page. The same form filled in for several people is analysed only once: each extra copy counts 0.4 page per page, and each upload is rounded up to the next page — 7 pages for 3 people make 13 pages, not 21. A page whose analysis failed, a page assigned to no one or a document you fill in yourself do not count; only a very long conversation can use more. Your account shows at all times what has been used and what is left; the details are in section 3 of the terms of sale.

Which plan should I choose?

The Free plan includes 5 pages a month, AI filling included: Plume finds the fields and Pluma fills them in with you, within those five pages. Beyond that, you need a paid plan or pages bought as you go — one pack is enough, no subscription needed. Essential adds the API and the import address on your own domain; Pro raises the page volume; support is the same for everyone. Firm brings a small team together in one shared space — three seats included, shared client files, processing priority — and the pricing page says how to get it. Enterprise, on quote from ten people, negotiates the volume and adds deployment on your own infrastructure. The exact volume of each plan is shown on the pricing page.

What happens when my pages run out?

New analyses are refused until the 1st of the following month; your documents and data remain accessible. You can buy pages as you go, without a subscription, or move up to a higher plan, which takes effect immediately. A PDF that already has its fields, like many forms in the library, still opens with “Fill in manually”, without using any page.

How are the pages of a Firm or Enterprise subscription shared between members?

The subscription's pages are those of the team's workspace. The manager can share them between the members, themselves included: equally in one step, or with a number chosen for each member — a member who needs more receives more. A share is reserved for its member: nobody else can use it up, and whatever the manager does not allocate stays common, for members without a share. A member who reaches the end of their share is stopped until the next month, and the manager can raise it at any time. On top of that, each member keeps the pages of their own personal space, with their own plan if they have one: the two counters never mix.

Can I get an invoice in my organisation's name?

Yes. On the payment page, state that you are buying for an organisation: its name and, if it has one, its VAT number then appear on the invoice. For a quote or a purchase order, see the offer for organisations.

Can I cancel my subscription?

At any time, at no cost. Your access stays open until the end of the period you have paid for.

How do I request a refund?

Write to support: from the Support page, or to Pluma on that page, who passes your request to the team with your account reference. Beyond the withdrawal right, a refund is decided case by case. A refunded page purchase removes from your balance the pages that payment had credited, pro rata, without ever charging again for pages already used; refunding a subscription instalment brings the account back to the free level, without deleting any document. Write to us before opening a bank dispute: it suspends access as soon as it is opened.

Plume and other solutions

How is it different from Adobe Acrobat Reader?

Acrobat Reader, Adobe's free app, lets you fill in the form yourself: you know what to answer, and on a PDF without fields you click where to write. Plume finds the areas to fill in, even when the PDF has no fields, then Pluma asks the questions that matter and writes the answers in their place. If the form is short and you already know what to write, Acrobat Reader is often enough. The detailed comparison, with sources: Plume or Adobe Acrobat Reader?.

Does Plume replace a public letter writer or Aidants Connect?

No. A public letter writer is a person who listens to you and writes with you; Plume is a tool you use yourself, and one that a public letter writer can also use during an appointment. Aidants Connect is for online procedures that a professional helper carries out on someone's behalf; Plume, for its part, connects to no administrative account and handles what remains on PDF or paper. Both comparisons: Plume or a public letter writer? and Plume or Aidants Connect?.

Why not just ask an assistant such as ChatGPT?

You can ask it for help, and Plume in fact relies on an OpenAI model for its analysis. What Plume adds is the work on the form itself: it finds the boxes of the official PDF, even scanned, photographed or without fields, writes each answer in its place and gives you back a PDF ready to print, sign or send. Your details can be kept from one form to the next if you turn on memory, and your documents remain stored in France.

Is there an API?

Yes. A versioned API facade exists for the product, including detection of the fields of a PDF. API keys are included from the Essential plan upwards, and with purchased pages for as long as you have some left. Automated enterprise access — dedicated authentication, bespoke integrations — requires contractual scoping. A service level agreement (SLA) is planned for later and is not currently available. The documentation is on the API page.

Limits and help

What does Plume not do?

Plume sends nothing to the authorities on your behalf, connects to no online account and does not replace legal advice. It issues no official document: forms and supporting documents come from the bodies concerned. AI can make mistakes, especially on a blurred photo: check before exporting. The form stays in French, its official language, and a file must not exceed 50 MB. Plume's electronic signature is not a qualified signature. Finally, the product is young: no service level agreement (SLA) is offered yet, and the service is for adults only.

Who answers support requests?

Pluma first, the same assistant as in the editor, on the Support page: it listens, passes your request to the team with your account reference, and brings you back to the editor once it is settled. The team then replies by email.
